Geoffroy Tobé trained in drawing and graphic arts at Penninghen, the school of art direction and interior design. This school is housed in the premises of the prestigious Académie Julian, which in the past welcomed artists such as Matisse, Bonnard, Léger, and Bazaine.
The artist initially specialized in publishing and visual identity for architects, designers, fashion houses, and museums.
He taught for twelve years at the same school and now teaches at the University of California, San Diego.
The artist uses a geometric vocabulary. Organic forms can also be seen, which he combines with pattern and material, always seeking a minimalist yet powerful balance. His work is also characterized by an exploration of color, particularly its intensity. This allows him to play with the viewer’s perception, drawing attention with either intense or softer colors.
His works are included in numerous private collections worldwide, notably in the United States, France, and Russia.
