Gysin Broukwen’s artistic approach is rooted in the image. Using raw material collected from contemporary iconography, he carves fragments of images and assembles them to create a new reality that blends abstraction with instant narration. After studying Art History, particularly Constructivism, Surrealism, Kinetic Art, and Cubism, he began, as a self-taught artist, to “paint” with images, influenced by artists such as Hans Arp, Victor Vasarely, and Alexander Rodchenko.
Chance plays an essential role in his handcrafted creative process, which involves no digital tools or Artificial Intelligence. In recent years, he has moved toward an abstraction centered on perspective and volume, aiming to immerse the viewer in the materiality of the work.
Gysin Broukwen has exhibited in numerous galleries and art centers in France and abroad.
