Lorène Cavagna

Lorène Cavagna, based in London, trained in ceramics at Kensington and Chelsea College. First working from a small studio space set up at home, she developed her early experiments before joining a workshop in Wembley, where her practice expanded and a distinctive aesthetic emerged, shaped by fluidity, repeated forms, and the vibrating energy of matter.

Fascinated by light, color, and contrast, Lorène Cavagna naturally turned toward glaze research, which she approaches as both an artistic and scientific exploration. This work has led to the creation of an exceptional palette of over 250 glazes, ranging from glossy to matte, crackled to translucent, offering endless variations. In her work, glaze does not simply coat the form: it reveals its tensions, enhances movement, and brings the sculpture to life.

Inspired by fashion, particularly the lightness of fabrics and their folds, her work exists at the intersection of volume and curvature. Lorène Cavagna primarily shapes stoneware, a material she values for its resistance to deformation as well as its surprising delicacy. She has developed a unique technique that allows her to stretch clay to extreme fineness: forms so thin they appear sharp, almost translucent, while maintaining remarkable structural strength.

Lorène Cavagna constantly pushes the physical and aesthetic boundaries of ceramics. She deliberately blurs the line between fragility and resilience, between structure and fluidity. Her world is built upon a continuous tension between control and unpredictability. With a deep attention to detail, Lorène Cavagna shapes every curve, every petal, every nuance with meticulous precision.

Her works are now held in private collections and hotels around the world.
