The Breath of Fine Craftsmanship: The Unique Vision of Anne Lopez

In the world of fine craftsmanship, each artist brings their own story, influences, and unique techniques. Anne Lopez, a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, embodies this fusion of tradition and innovation, blending artistic heritage with personal exploration. Her journey, marked by a constant quest for novelty and refinement, reveals a singular talent shaped by years of experimentation and inspiration.
After exploring the intricacies of drawing and volume as a visual artist, Anne pursued training at the École d’Art Mural in Versailles, where she delved into the world of ancestral craft techniques. This dual foundation laid the groundwork for her work, allowing her to merge traditional know-how with a contemporary approach.
Her desire to take on new challenges and push technical boundaries drives her to constantly explore new horizons. Whether through collaborations in the fields of luxury, automotive design, or interior architecture, she seeks to diversify her work and enrich it with fresh experiences.
Anne’s inspiration is rooted in her years at the École des Beaux-Arts, where movement, breath, and the discipline of gesture shaped her artistic language. Classical dance, which she practiced for many years, continues to influence her work, infusing her drawings and creations with a unique sense of dynamism. For her, white embodies purity and light, calmness, and creative energy.
Her preferred medium, the manipulation of stucco, reflects her deep connection to materiality and the spontaneity of the creative process. In this dance between the malleable substance and her own gestures, Anne discovers a form of organic, instinctive expression. Each work is the result of an interaction between the artist and the material, between control and the unexpected.
In her exploration of abstraction, Anne seeks a subtle balance between emptiness and fullness, between the density of the material and the breathing of space. Her compositions, imbued with movement and rhythm, capture the essence of the creative breath that animates her work. Each line, each curve, is an invitation to contemplation, to discovering a universe where art and craftsmanship meet in dazzling harmony.

Craftsmanship and Creativity: The Inventive Genius of Sarah Walbaum

In the field of craftsmanship, Sarah Walbaum stands out for her creative ingenuity and ecological commitment. In her studio, located within the prestigious Atelier Simon-Marq, founded in 1640 in Reims, she gives new life to glass offcuts through a process called “upcycling.” This approach, which promotes the revitalization of materials, gives these glass remnants a second life by transforming them into unique creations, enriching narratives and imagery with their vibrant hues and luminosity.
Sarah’s creative journey began with a revelation in September 2020, when she discovered the artisanal glass sheets used by the master glassmakers of Atelier Simon-Marq. To her, they resembled entire galaxies encapsulated. Shaped by the elemental forces of earth, water, air, and fire, these sheets of glass contained a rich story waiting to be revealed.
Driven by her passion for color, Sarah seized the opportunity to showcase the beauty of these mouth-blown glass sheets through her artistic projects, aiming to share with others the enchanting appeal that colored glass holds for its viewers.
From this inspiration, two distinct projects were born:
First, the creation of vibrant screens showcasing captivating plays of color and light. These screens, part of the Paysagescollection, stand in five pairs on oak bases, highlighting the organic beauty of the artisanal glass.
Second, Sarah repurposed discarded stained glass offcuts, deemed too small for the master glassmakers, to create unique glass pieces. Each fragment, marked by its cut, was transformed into jewelry and incorporated into new creations such as sculptures or wall panels. These pieces of jewelry form the heart of the Éclats collection.
Since September 2020, Sarah Walbaum has embarked on a new creative journey, focused on the exploration of color, her favorite subject.

“When you dive into color, you realize that its vibrancy depends on its support, the material, and the way light teases it. So, what could be more magical than stained glass? Not to mention its spiritual dimension.”

José Aguirre: The Alchemy of Matter and Art

In the heart of Saône-et-Loire, in the peaceful village of Bresse-sur-Grosne, lives an artist whose sculptural work resonates with the whispers of the earth and the echoes of the universe. Born in London in 1971, José Aguirre embodies the spirit of fine craftsmanship, transforming iron into creations that blur the boundaries between earth and sky.
José Aguirre’s artistic approach is deeply rooted in the very essence of material. For him, iron, originally contained within the earth as ore, is far more than a mere element. It is a symbol of transformation, a substance that metamorphoses under the influence of fire and human labor. In his studio, José engages in this alchemical process, breathing new life into this earthly material and giving it a cosmic dimension.
José Aguirre’s abstract sculptures do not aim to impose a specific direction on the viewer. On the contrary, they invite an inward journey, a personal exploration of their meaning. Each piece is a testimony to the interaction between the artist, the material, and the observer, where everyone contributes their own reality to the work.
Technically, José Aguirre has mastered the properties of steel, the medium of his artistic language. He allows the natural physico-chemical laws of the material to take their course, exploring the possibilities offered by metallochromy. Through various techniques and interactions with elements such as water and fire, he creates unique textures, colors, and shades without the use of paint.
José Aguirre’s sculptures begin as flat steel sheets, cut and shaped before being formed through stamping, rolling, and forging. Each element is then assembled by welding, giving rise to a volume, a work of art that evokes both the raw strength of the material and the delicacy of artistic expression.
Through his work, José Aguirre reminds us that metal is far more than a mere material; it reflects our world, its origins, and its aspirations. His sculptures, heirs to humanity’s myths and dreams, reveal the earthly and cosmic resonances embedded in every element of our existence. In doing so, José Aguirre transcends the boundaries of fine craftsmanship, offering his viewers a journey into the infinite universe of creation.
